I've been waiting to try and write my own pattern for some time now, and this week I finally got around to doing it!

For the longest time I have been searching for a coffee sleeve pattern that I could make for some of my travel mugs that are thin and sometimes can be hard to grab because the heat radiates through them--I had bought some, but after making them, they just didn't turn out the way I wanted them to.  So, I decided to make my own pattern to give a nice textured feel to the sleeve--introducing you to the Crochet Coffee Sleeve by CEDdesigns:

Crochet Coffee Sleeve in Mustard

I have recently re-discoverd Vanna's Choice Yarn and thought this would be the perfect yarn for this project--and, was I right?!  It worked up so nicely with the HDC Cross Stitches that I am now addicted to this yarn and I am restraining from going and buying every color I can get my hands on.  I also think this yarn would be great for beanies!

This pattern is at an Easy level--you just need to know how to do a Cross Stitch, but if you don't I have included a link to a YouTube tutorial specifically for this project.  All other stitches you need to know are Half-Double Crochet (HDC), Chain and slip stitch--very basic.  The HDC is becoming one of my favorite stitches, it's quick to make yet still gives the project some substance to it, and isn't nearly as tight as a single crochet but not as loose as a double crochet.
Crochet Coffee Sleeve in Fern
Both the colors Fern and Mustard are great fall colors and fall will be here before we know it--well at least all of us in Florida hope so :)

I now have the pattern available here--and if you don't know how to crochet, you can get one made--in Mustard or in Fern!

  3. I love this coffee sleeve! I'm relatively new at crocheting and I'm not understanding the cross stitch. I've tried pulling up your you tube video but it's not available, do you have another video that I could watch? Thank so much!!

    1. Go ahead and try again with the link above. For some reason, it got set to private.

  4. I know this is an old post, but I’m hoping it isn’t closed. Do you have any issue with acrylic yarn against the hot cups? I have seen several patterns that use acrylic, but several others say cotton is the way to go.

    1. I personally haven't had any issues with acrylic yarn. You could try using the cotton but the measurements might not work out the best.
